Humanist Vampires and Generational Shifts, with Kim Baldwin

Colleague Kim Baldwin and I had a chat about the new Quebecois film Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person, and it was a lot of fun.

A talk with Alonso Duralde

I got to interview longtime friend and colleague Alonso Duralde in honor of his new book Hollywood Pride, and it was a delight. But I had no idea he was on Jeopardy once.

At the movies: Kinds of Kindness

Deeply perverse psychological experiments abound, and it's magickal.

At the movies: MaXXXine

Dip a toe in the neon slime, everybody.

At the movies: Kalki 2898 AD

The current big deal in export Indian Cinema.

Can We Just Talk about The Muppet Movie?

It's not always reviews here at Interface 2037. Sometimes, I like to talk about how a film sits with us, culturally. Like this stone classic.

At the movies: The Watchers.

Isharan Night Shyamalan brings us an intriguing dive into second generation Shyamalan cinema, and it's a promising beginning. Doesn't stick the landing, but still an interesting vision and voice for the genre. Also, a heroic conure.

At the movies: Coma (2022).

Bonello, getting real weird with it.

At the movies: In A Violent Nature.

There are aspects of this film that are fascinating, and a lot of it which doesn't work at all. It has a staggeringly good last five or so minutes, good enough that I do recommend the whole thing. But what it promises and doesn't deliver shows up (twice) in Horror In The High Desert 3: Firewatch. Just saying.

At the movies: Challengers.

This is a film so sexy that it made me deeply concerned about tennis.

At the movies: The People's Joker.

Vera Drew has made a work that made me wish I had done due diligence with the DC comicsphere as I was growing up.

At the movies: The Beast (2023).

Bertrand Bonello is the best director working today, it feels like. And this one is something very special.

Matteo Lane.

I find comedian Matteo Lane to be fascinating, and an endearing facet of contemporary stand-up comedy. His team, however...

At the movies: Do Not Expect Too Much From The End Of The World

Radu Jude is at it again, and you shouldn't miss it.
