At the movies: The Relic.

 

1997's The Relic was a grand quilt of influences, behind the scenes chaos, and a superb monster, and I got to write about it for the AV Club as part of a series about airport bestsellers getting turned into movies.

At the movies: In The Earth.

 Ben Wheatley's latest is causing all sorts of conflicted responses, but I totally dug it. It was one of the films I saw at Sundance back in January, and it planted a seed in my subconscious.
